Happy thoughts, remembering June 26th January 2019

You may remember June for her great cooking, or her singing, her parties, her time spent in Malta with Bill, and of course her tireless working life, always in the public eye. Always smiling, always happy. She worked at Woolworths, Fred’s Greengrocers, the Provident Bank and then she under took voluntary work for Help The Aged. After a brief spell of retirement, she returned again to Help The Aged, as sitting at home just wasn’t for her. I think the clue to June's life (and her great happiness) is in that name – Help The Aged. And the key word is “Help”; and that’s what she liked to do, to be there to help people. To make sure you were alright, to make sure you were well fed, to make sure you had a drinkie in your hand and of course to coin one of her favourite phrases, to make sure You were Diddling Along. June was 91 when she died. That’s a long life, a good innings. She has left us all with happy memories. She died peacefully in her sleep, having been surrounded by family and friends during her final days. This mimicked the rest of her life where she was always happiest surrounded by family and friends and its lovely to see so many of you here today. A heartfelt thank you to her newest friends, the staff at Elisabeth Lodge in Gosport. Over the last year you enabled mum to maintain her dignity and kept her smiling. On behalf of her family, thank you so much. Simon
